Origin: Argentina & Bolivia

USDA Zone:  9 - 11

Heat & Frost Tolerance:  Heat/Drought/Sun tolerant when established in the ground.  Can take Central Texas frosts but not extended, wet/windy freezes.  If planted in ground, wrap to protect it during freezes.

Growing Habits:  Reaches a maturity of 30' tall with lots of branches. 

Average Growth Rate:  several inches per year

Bloom:  Blooms are large and creamy-white.  Seed pods have an edible rind that is tangy like a lemon or lime.  The rind can be eaten raw but in order to eat the entire pod it is important to cook it first.
